The Spring Group is the Woodman Residency’s initiative to engage emerging Italian artists with the residency. It is curated by artists Lorenzo Cianchi and Maria Pecchioli and was inaugurated in Spring 2024. During the four days of the first Spring Group Project artists and curators shared their practices and participated in an open studio.

The second year, spring 2025, was equally successful. The program began in Betty’s studio with a focus on ceramics in multiple perspectives. The kiln became a catalyst for ideas and techniques as artists unveiled works fired during the project.

The Spring Group pays particular attention to the practices of invited artists, who are encouraged to share their research and their point of view on art and art making. This ten-day spring residency lends itself to an exchange of practices and ideas through a hands-on forum for artistic exchange.
